New Dead By Daylight killer trades Tokyo for the fog

The new Dead By Daylight killer has been highly anticipated for what feels like a long, long time, and we finally now know that the popular anime, Tokyo Ghoul, has joined forces with the asymmetrical multiplayer. But, like with anything we find lurking in the fog, all is not as it seems. It might come as some surprise that the new DBD killer is, in fact, none other than the series’ protagonist, Ken Kaneki.

Much like his anime portrayal, poor ol’ Ken has been put through the ringer as he makes his debut in Behaviour Interactive’s ever-popular horror game, but with a slight, and quite terrifying, change. In the anime, Ken gets his organs rearranged and replaced by a ghoul called Rize Kamishiro, which then turns him into a half-ghoul. Which, admittedly, is quite horrifying in itself. But as one of the new DBD killers, Ken has been tortured by Jason – who you might remember from Tokyo Ghoul: Jack – and subsequently snatched by The Entity upon his escape to wreak havoc in the fog.

Understandably, given the moniker of The Ghoul, Ken has a deliciously gory set of abilities, with his main power coming from his Kagune Leap. The tentacles that burst from his back afford The Ghoul a lot of verticality and movement, and so he can jump around the map with ease as he chases survivors down. When he engages his special Enraged Mode, which remains active so long as there are survivors that still bear the Kagune Mark, he gains three consecutive Kagune Leaps to really terrorize the map.

Deliciously difficult indie Cuphead hits lowest price for Steam Deck

Frustrating as it is fantastic, Cuphead is one of the 2010s’ biggest hits. The indie game’s classic animation-style approach makes it stand out, with hand-drawn aesthetics and elements that would fit the golden era of cartoons, but the charming art direction doesn’t change that this is a delightfully difficult game, and this indie gem is now available at its cheapest price on Steam Deck and other handhelds.

Two million of us are playing this multiplayer game, just days after its release

We all remember the days of rushing to get home from school, leaving a voicemail for your parents explaining you were going to your friend’s house for dinner – because they were lucky enough to have an N64 or a PlayStation with two controllers. Now, Swedish developer Hazelight has reignited that joy and become somewhat of a beacon for co-operative games, and Split Fiction’s record sales are proof that they still know exactly what they’re doing.

Arguably one of the best multiplayer games of the year so far, Split Fiction amassed a whopping one million sales just 48 hours into its release, with Hazelight taking to Blue Sky to celebrate such a huge milestone. And considering the fact that the game is a split-screen co-op catered to gaming duos, much like the studio’s other triumphs like A Way Out and It Takes Two, that means that the huge number of sales probably doubles the amount of actual players.

If you own Split Fiction, then you can invite a pal through the Friend’s Pass without them having to purchase the game themselves. In an industry where microtransactions run rampant and cosmetics cost an arm and a leg, it’s refreshing to see that despite Hazelight’s ability to create genuinely incredible multiplayer games, they don’t feel the need to charge absolutely everyone for the privilege of playing them.

Could Fields of Mistria overtake Stardew Valley as the best cozy farm game?

A few moons ago, in August 2024, Fields of Mistria entered early access on Steam and took the cozy game market by storm. Finally, something that could actually rival Stardew Valley appeared with adorable graphics, loveable characters, and round crows to look after.

Now, Fields of Mistria just received its second major content update, giving you even more to do in the farm game. Not only does this update smooth out a lot of bugs and crashes, but it adds a new Lava Caves biome to fight through, a Deep Woods area to explore, and pets to adopt. They can even do jobs for you, like collecting resources!

The big thing that we’re really excited about is the reveal of Caldarus in human form. He’s the spirit that resides in the dragon statue on your farm, and despite being a statue made of stone, he has a lot of fans wanting to get to know him better, if you catch my drift. Well, now you can.

Pokémon Go’s new feature just made shiny hunting a whole lot easier

A game-changing new quality of life feature has launched in Pokémon Go that’ll make shiny hunting your favorite creatures a lot easier. Niantic has introduced nearby Pokémon alerts to help you track down one specific ‘mon at a time, and the community is already strategizing the best ways to use it.

Pokémon Go’s nearby Pokémon feature has always been a bit unreliable, but this new feature is a significant improvement, letting you track one specific creature from your Pokédex at a time while you’re in the app and via push notifications throughout the day. Before you get too excited, there are some exceptions. You can’t track Kecleon and Smeargle, who only appear on Pokéstops or in photos, and shapeshifting Pokémon like Ditto and Zorua remain as elusive as ever.

However, you can use this feature to track the roaming Pokémon Go legendaries Azelf, Uxie, and Mesprit – provided you’ve encountered them before. It’s also a great way to work towards your Dreepy evolution, as you can track where the tiny dragon Pokémon spawns and catch it for candies. Of course, as Pokémon Go is a location-based game, this feature doesn’t bring the critters closer to you, but at least you’ll have a better idea of where to go and catch them.
